Membership in AAEE is available in the following categories:

INSTITUTIONAL MEMBERSHIP
Post-secondary institutions	Not-for-profit colleges, community colleges, universities that prepare educators, each with a principal representative identified from that institution	Voting
School systems	Not-for-profit school systems, both public and private, that hire educators, each with a principal representative identified from that school system.	Voting
Individuals/Affiliates	Additional paid individuals representing a paid Institutional Member	Voting
ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP
Not-for-profit organizations	State departments of education, professional associations, etc.	Non-voting
For-profit organizations	Businesses that have services related to the recruitment and retention of educators.	Non-voting
SPECIAL MEMBERSHIP
Retired / Out-of-Field	Available to professionals who used to be Principal Representatives or Institutional Affiliates of member institutions and have since retired or left the field, yet want to maintain active participation in AAEE.	Non-voting
Emeritus Membership	Bestowed by the Board of Directors as an Award with criteria.	Non-voting
Honorary Membership	Bestowed by the Board of Directors as an Award with criteria.	Non-voting
