EduMagic: A Guide for Preservice Teachers

This book challenges the thought that “teaching” begins only after certification and college graduation. Instead, it describes how students in teacher preparation programs have value to offer their future colleagues, even as they are learning to be teachers! This book provides positive examples, helpful tools, and plenty of encouragement for preservice teachers to learn, to dream, and to do.

EduMagic: Shine On: A Guide for New Teachers

EduMagic Shine On: A Guide for New Teachers picks up where EduMagic: A Guide for Preservice Teachers leaves off. Dr. Sam Fecich is back at the coffee shop and is now joined by three former students-turned-friends. She is excited to introduce you to these three young teachers: Katy Gibson, Hannah Sansom, and Hannah Turk. This book is designed to help you, as a beginning teacher, thrive during your first year of teaching by asking you to reflect, challenge yourself, and celebrate wins in and out of the classroom. It is hard, yes, but you can do it. You’ve got this—after all, you are an edumagician. We start with expectations you may have for your first year, and go through all the ups and downs of the first year and how you can take them on and grow through everything! Our hope is that you will feel encouraged and supported as you work through these pages, taking notes on the side and putting dog ears on the pages that really speak to you. Your first year is hard, but you will make it through and learn SO much...so let’s do this!

About the AuthorI’m Dr. Samantha Fecich a professor, educator, and huge fan of pumpkin spice lattes (PSL)!  Most days of the week you can find me in my office at Grove City College working with students or teaching preservice teachers about educational technology or special education.  I am truly blessed to do what I do, day in and day out. I enjoy working with preservice teachers and preparing the future generation of educators to become educators of excellence. I enjoy giving them opportunism to shine through professional development and leadership roles by participating in edcamps, workshops, writing articles for AAEE, or presenting at conferences.

Check out my EduMagic podcast! A podcast for future teachers. Join host, Dr. Sam Fecich as she interviews preservice teachers who are using EduMagic to rock their college careers.
