Familiarity and mentoring equals success in teacher recruitment. Starting with their initial expression of interest in teaching while in middle and high school, and continuing through the gap years of college when they are someone else's student, a dedicated candidate for your school system can be established with intentional mentoring. Through a discussion encompassing both school system recruitment and university networking, this session will provide the opportunity to learn and to share best practices for engagement with pre-teachers, for retaining relationships in the gap years, and for celebrating the return of the licensed teacher to their home school system.
