Leveraging Your Local Community to Support Your Future Teacher Pipeline

Tuesday, November 19, 2019 @ 2PM CDT

Presented by Dan Weidner, Associate Principal, Wheeling High School, District 214, Illinois

  • “We have a crisis in this country in terms of teacher recruitment. The eyes of the teaching profession are on this district.” – Dan Brown, Co-Director, Educators Rising

Learn about a program preparing today’s high school students to become tomorrow’s teachers in our own communities by ensuring we are actively working together to identify, empower and develop the next generation of high-quality educators who will continue to transform public education.

  • This program incorporates a sequence of courses and experiences developed in cooperation with community partners across primary, secondary, and postsecondary education, and is divided into three stages:

  • 1.      Integration with high school pathways: Exploring a career in education

  • 2.      Supporting students from high school through college to career

  • 3.      Returning to our communities to teach

  • “We’re impacting public education in this country. We are being that incubator to change the world.” – Dr. David R. Schuler, Superintendent, High School District 214
